On AudioControl's Dante-enabled amplifiers, like the M4800D, M6800D, and the CM 70V Dante amps, the inputs shared between amplifiers will automatically display their chosen name when you click Look for Devices.
For example, on your M6800D you may have inputs named "Sonos," "CD Player," and "iPod Shuffle." Once that's connected to your CM2-750D over Dante, you'll see Sonos, CD Player, and iPod Shuffle in the CM2's input drop down menu.
You may notice that even when all other inputs are given names, the Dante Inputs are labeled 01-02, 03-04, etc, and there's no way to change them in the amplifier's web interface.
Once Dante Controller is open, locate your amplifier in the list of Receivers, and double click the name of the amp whose inputs you want to rename.
A Device View window will open, showing information about the selected device. The window should open to the "Receive" tab, which lists all the available inputs and any connections that have been made.
Under the "Channel" column, click the channel name (in this case 01, 02, 03, etc.), and you can retype the name of the input here. Press the Enter key on your keyboard after typing each channel name to make sure it saves.
Note that this shows you each channel individually, but the inputs are paired together received as stereo signals in the M4800D and M6800D, so be sure to rename each input appropriately. Typically, odd number inputs are the left channel, and even number inputs are the right channel.
Once you've renamed all the channels you need, you can close the Device View, double click another amp, and edit that amp's input names. When you're finished, you can exit Dante Controller.
The names are saved in the Dante network, but are not yet available on the AudioControl amplifier's web interface. Power the amplifier(s) off using the main power switch, wait about 10 seconds, and then turn the amp(s) back on.
Reload the web interface for the amplifier, and the input drop down menu should have the updated input names:
Each line in the input drop down menu can display up to 29 characters, including spaces the "-" between each input pair. Try to keep the Dante Input names short & concise, at most use 14 characters per input, or else the text will be cut off and not display the full name.
More than 29 total characters can be used, just know the full name will not be displayed.
