Stereo Mode – bass management for two channel audio: X / XR series processors and receivers

When listening to two channel audio sources with the X7 and X9 processors and XR4/XR6/XR8 receivers, the Stereo Mode setting allows you to configure how bass frequencies are divided up between the front left and right speakers and subwoofer(s).

Note: The Stereo Mode option is not available when you have selected the “Stereo Direct” mode. Stereo Direct is used when listening to a two channel audio source connected to an analog input. Stereo Direct bypasses all DSP audio processing including processing of subwoofer audio.

Note: The Input Configuration settings are configurable for each input you are using, so settings can be different for each input.

From the front panel press MENU to get into the settings > select Input Configuration > select Stereo Mode and then choose from the following options:

AS SPEAKER TYPES – this is the most commonly used setting. It follows the crossover settings you selected in the Speaker Types setup to determine what bass frequencies are directed to your front left and right speakers and subwoofer(s).

LEFT/RIGHT – Full frequency audio will be sent to your front left and right speakers with no bass information going to the subwoofer(s). So the Front Left and Right speakers will be producing all the bass – make sure they can handle it!

LEFT/RIGHT + SUB – Full frequency audio will be sent to your front left and right speakers plus bass information is directed to your subwoofer(s).

SAT + SUB – Basically the same as the “As Speaker Types” setting. The crossover settings you selected in the Speaker Types setup determine what bass frequencies are directed to your subwoofer(s).
SUB STEREO – This setting adjusts the level of the subwoofer when you are using a two-channel source (except for
Left/Right mode).
